ELDERLY LADY ATTACKED ON THE COMMON

RONDEBOSCH: On Sunday, 21st April 2024, at about 11:15, an elderly lady was attacked while walking with her dog around the Rondebosch Common. She accidentally bumped into a male and apologised but the suspect then asked for her cell phone, and she told him she did not have it. The suspect then searched the complainant and only found her car keys in her jacket pocket.

The suspect then pulled out a knife and pulled her toward him. The complainant tried to pull herself out of her jacket, but he dragged her to the ground.

The complainant started to yell and scream as loud as she could, but he threatened her with the knife to stop and pushed the knife in her mouth. She sustained lacerations on her tongue, right hand, and back of her head and was taken to hospital after the suspect fled. The suspect was a black male, slim-built, not very tall, and had a black beard. She is still busy recovering at the hospital. The public that uses the Rondebosch Common is warned to be vigilant and not walk or run alone.

Do try to refrain from walking or running between the high brush areas and report any suspicious persons to Rondebosch SAPS at 021 6856600 Ends
