In the spirit of community, we invite non-FADT clients to participate in all community organized events organized by the RCID.
Mandela Day
Happy Valley Fellowship School
Let’s Spread Some Warmth This Winter ❄️
As we’ve done in past years, the RCID is proud to support The Happy Valley Fellowship School in Philippi — a school that provides care and education to children in need.
This 2025 winter, they’re asking for warm blankets and we’re also collecting specific soup ingredients like soup mix, split peas, and stock cubes, along with other non-perishable foods such as peanut butter, canned beans, pasta, and rice.📍 Donations can be easily dropped off at the RCID offices. If you’d prefer to donate money towards buying ingredients, we’ve made that simple too — just click below for the bank details.
Thank you for helping us make a difference, one small act of kindness at a time. ❤️
Welcome to RCID Cocktail Reception
New to RCID? We'd Love to Meet You!
We host informal get-togethers throughout the year to welcome all residents who’ve recently moved into the RCID area — it’s our way of saying hello and helping you feel at home.
Our most recent welcome evening took place in May 2025, and we’ll be announcing the next date soon, so stay tuned! These relaxed evenings include delicious cocktails kindly provided by the talented team at Silwood Cookery School, a short and informative presentation about the RCID — who we are, what we do, and how we’re working to keep our neighbourhood safe and connected.
It’s a lovely chance to meet neighbours, ask questions, and learn more about your new community.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
Eden & Eve Workshops
On Tuesday 26 August, the annual 2025 Eden & Eve RCID-SAPS workshop was held at Rondebosch SAPS for child-minders, gardeners, domestics/property staff in the Rondebosch area.
The session covered a range of helpful safety and prevention tips — from leaving for work, using public transport, and walking safely, to workplace awareness, spotting scams, protecting yourself from abuse, and knowing the right steps to take.
A big thank you to Sergeant Abrahams from Rondebosch SAPS for leading such an informative and engaging workshop. We’ve received wonderful feedback and lots of appreciation from those who attended.
We’re also grateful to the community members who encouraged their staff to participate — as this kind of shared learning benefits not only individuals but also the wider communities at large.
Keep an eye-out for the 2026 workshop date!
Street Braai
Every year, we’ve seen more and more street parties popping up around the RCID – and we absolutely love it! It’s a fantastic way to get to know your neighbours and make the most of our lovely streets and shared spaces.
There’s no set formula – it’s all up to you and your neighbours. Just roll out a few braais, bring some chairs and tables, and let everyone pitch in with drinks, food, and good vibes. Some families might bring along a salad or two to share – it’s all about keeping it simple and sociable.
Thinking of getting something going on your street? Let Kas know if you’re happy to help coordinate – we’d love to support you!
Hop Into Easter Fun with the RCID! 🐰
In April 2025, we hosted a fantastic Easter Egg Hunt, a Magician; a family-friendly morning full of laughter, treats, and community spirit — and we’re already excited for next year!
Don’t miss out on all the Easter excitement in 2026! We’ll be back with more fun, more treats, and more reasons to smile with your neighbours.
See you there! 🌼
Join Us for the RCID Annual General Meeting!
The RCID AGM is taking place on Thursday 23 October 2025, at Micklefield School — and we’d really love to see some new and familiar faces from the neighbourhood this year!
It’s a relaxed evening where we’ll look back on the past year, chat about what’s coming up, and have the opportunity to meet our local Ward Councillors. There’ll be cocktails, great conversation, and a chance to connect with fellow neighbours.
Come along, say hi, and help shape the future of our community!
