FADT
FADT provides two levels of service in the RCID area. Firstly, there are the services provided to each client’s premises (armed response/monitoring service). Each resident contracts individually with FADT for these services.
The second level of service provided by FADT was initiated in 2000 and came about as a result of collective bargaining of members contracted to FADT in the RCID demarcated area. These services have evolved over the years.
·Two-armed response vehicles and three petrol vehicles dedicated to the RCID area.
·The Licence Plate Recognition (LPR) project. 12 LPR cameras monitor the interior of the RCID on all entry and exit points. In addition, there are currently 40 overview cameras in the RCID area.
·Dedicated RCID Communications Hub. This is situated on the Bishops Campus and deals with all non-emergencies such as the requesting of the Meet and Greet service, the reporting of civic matters within the RCID area, ie lights out of order, blocked drains etc, as well as reporting suspicious persons or vehicles in the area.
· Three FADT funded controllers are specially trained to monitor the cameras in the RCID Communications Hub 24/7. The controllers have direct and fast access to the response vehicles, Rondebosch SAPS and the RCID office.
